Ginkgo Foundation Barbet
Starting with Xela in 2004, these Barbets have played a special role in shaping Ginkgo. Prior to the AKC adding Barbet to the sporting group in 2020, we showed in Canada. Most were shown, earned their CKC or AKC championships. What mattered most was their health, safety, and happiness. Some are still with us today, while others have passed but remain forever in our hearts. Beyond the show ring, many enjoyed other adventures too—whether running Fast CAT, offering comfort as therapy dogs, or trying rally, agility, or obedience—always guided by their own unique interests and aptitudes. Each one was, and always will be, deeply loved.
BARBET CINNA
CKC CH Cinna Di Barbochos Reaiu De Prouvenco CM THDA CGN CGC
June 17, 2007 – November 8th, 2021
Cinna was imported from France in 2008 from Tarascon, France. While there, we attended the Bourg en Bresse show, Cinna won best male puppy and lost best puppy to his sister, Cybelle. Cinna was my heart dog and had this calm, old soul personality. Sometimes he was a cranky old man, too. He is why we are so passionate about the breed. He was registered with the SCC (French Kennel Club), CKC, AKC, and UKC.
Cinna was a certified therapy dog with Love on a Leash. We volunteered at local universities, schools, and Eskenazi Health. He has well over 100 visits before Covid hit. When not greeting guests he would curl up at my feet in my office. He loved to watch animals on tv, put his wet beard on our laps, and watch over us. Cinna passed away at age 14.5 in November 2021 in our arms. Our hearts are broken but his memory lives on.

Achievements: CKC Champion, Canine Good Neighbor certificate, Winter 2013 Canine Good Citizen, first Barbet to earn an AKC CM (Certificate of Merit), as well as a THD AKC Therapy Dog title in 2016. He earned his Advanced Therapy Dog AKC title (over 100 visits!) in 2018.

Gaia was larger than life since the day she was born. This black and white girl had SO much personality and drive. She earned her CKC Championship as well as TKN, BCAT, RI, CGC, and THDA titles. Pre-covid, we had well over 100 therapy visits at Eskenazi Hospital, IUPUI, and local schools. She loved to greet people, give them her paw, and get belly rubs. During covid, we participated in virtual rally and therapy visits.
She had a short battle with mammary cancer in 2023 that spread despite our best medical efforts. Her sass, love for squirrels, barking at birds, and so much more is greatly missed.
Nicknames: Gaia the queen, GG, Pickle.

Achievements: She earned her first 2 CKC points in August 2015, a Best of Winners on November 28th, at the Caledon CKC show, and completed her CKC Championship in the summer of 2016. In the summer of 2018 she earned her Trick Dog Novice Title as well as a AKC Therapy dog title! Gaia earned her Rally Novice and Rally Intermediate Titles with scores of 83, 90, and 95 in the fall of 2020.

CKC CH. Teacleopatra Biscay’s Sapphire CGC (Cleo): born September 26, 2009 in Ontario, Canada.
She was a beautiful foundation for Ginkgo. Cleo was a dam of three lovely litters, many of her offspring continue on and are AKC champions, accomplished agility, therapy, and fast cat performance dogs.
She was loving, mellow, and an easy going barbet. She was selected from her litter by Pat Hastings. Once she retired from showing and breeding, she became a service dog for a veteran in Florida. Cleo passed peacefully after her 16th birthday in 2025.

Isis/Izzy was born in Ontario, Canada and driven from the beginning. She excelled in Rally as well as retrieving various objects on land and water. She earned her CKC championship in the Spring of 2013. She was the first Barbet to earn a FSS Best in Show at the Louisville AKC Open Show.
Isis/Izzy passed in 2024 and is greatly missed. Run free with your frisbees sweet girl.

This brown beauty was born on December 2, 2016. Her parents are CKC Ch. Ginkgo de Cleo Ellis NA and CH Barbochos Rick’s CM. She was a happy girl, and very spirited like her mother. This gorgeous girl lived with co-owner Susie Rohr in Southern, Indiana. Harper earned her AKC certificate of Merit in September 2018 and had her first Best of Misc on September 3rd, 2017 under judge Mr. William (Bill) P. Shelton with Handler Elizabeth Steltenpohl at the Northern Kentucky Kennel Club, Inc Dog show in Lexington Kentucky!
Harper earned her first CM on Sunday September 2nd, 2018 at the Lexington, Kentucky AKC show with a Best of Misc. She earned her Rally Novice title in July of 2019, CGC in June 2018, and AKC championship in March 2020 right as everything was closing down for Covid. Later in 2021, Harper finished her AKC Grand Championship in February in Tallahassee Florida with a Best of Breed. Harper is the first Barbet to earn a AKC Bronze Grand Championship in September 2021.
Congrats to Susie on doing such a beautiful job as owner/handler of Harper.

CKC CH Quaciendas Thunus Georgii
Born February 12, 2012, to breeders Alex and Greet in Holland of Quaciendas whom owned Cinna’s sister.
Georgii was imported in early April 2021 and resides in Alexandria, Virginia with Walter’s sister, Nancy. Thunus made his debut on the front page of the Wall Street Journal on 2012’s Memorial Day Weekend. He is a sweet, happy guy who is super playful.
Georgii was neutered in 2021 and living a happy retired life chasing DC squirrels.

BARBET PETRA

Petra is our first Ginkgo AKC Champion and Grand Champion!!!
Born October 6, 2019. Her parents are Zora Biscay’s Fairest D’Ginkgo CGN (Piper) and CKC CH Outdoors Durango (Quinn) CM CGN CGC. Petra reminds us of her great grand father Cinna.
Petra earned two group fours at the Tri State Kennel Club show under Judge Ms. Edweena (Teddy) McDowell on Sunday November 29th and at the Rolla Kennel Club Show in Springfield Missouri under Judge Mr. Sam Houston McDonald. She also earned a group 3 under Dana Cline at the Golden Triangle Kennel Club in Starkville, Mississippi on Saturday January 16, 2021. Petra finished her AKC grand championship in February 2021 in Midland Texas under Ms. Kimberly Meredith with a Best of Breed that finalized her Grand.
Petra is retired from breeding and showing and we hope she can become a therapy dog.

Ellie was born May 6th, 2013, Ellie was one of our pups from a Dutch sired litter. She is now retired with Lynn in Missouri, and completes in agility, rally, and other competitions.
Ellie earned CGN and CKC CH in 2014. Novice Agility (NA) title 2015, Novice Agility Jumper (NAJ) 2017, Open Agility (OA) and Open Agility Jumper (OAJ) 2019, Named Achiever Dog by AKC 2019, Agility Excellent (AX) and Excellent Agility Jumper (AXJ) 2019. First Barbet to earn Excellent titles in agility. RN, TKN and CGC in 2019. Special Award of Merit for 2020 AKC Agility Invitational #1 Barbet. First Barbet to be invited to AKC Agility Invitational. Special Award of Merit for Top Barbet 2020: Outstanding Performance in the Regular Agility Class. Winner of Breed medallion at AKC Agility Invitational 2020, 2021.

Allora was born on the same day as Quinn, on July 4th, 2015, but from a different litter and breeder. Allora and Quinn were imported to America in late August 2015. While visiting Italy, we would hear the phrase Allora often. Walter and I both thought it would be a great dog name one day. In researching the phrase, it means many things pending how it is used. The Florentine article best describes the many uses of the phrase. One such description being:”…. allora served innumerable purposes. It was ‘let’s see now’ and ‘let’s get to the bottom of this.’ Allora was ‘what do you think?’ and ‘where do we go from here?’”
Allora is retired and living with a family in Louisville, Kentucky alongside Barbet Fitz and her grandson Yogi.

Quinn was born on July 4th, 2015 in the Netherlands. He earned his AKC Certificate of Merit in April 2016, Canine good neighbor in August 2017, Canine good citizen in September 2017), and CKC Championship fall 2019.
He is working on his therapy dog advanced title as he visits hospitals, in patient facilities, schools, and nursing homes with his co-owner Susan Conner.

She earned her AKC Championship in 2022 as well as earned her Canine Good Citizen, Trick Dog Novice, and Bcat titles. She is co-owned with Amanda Debusk, lives a mile away, and we hike our Barbet pack frequently together.

Lyla was born February 18, 2018. Her parents are CKC CH Ginkgo de Cleo Ellis NA (Ellie) and CKC CH Outdoors Durango (Quinn) CM CGN CGC. Lyla earned her AKC championship on April 8, 2021 with a winners bitch under judge Mr. Jerry Watson at the Tuscaloosa kennel club in Columbiana Alabama to complete her title.
Lyla is co owned with Dr. Katz and I. She is spayed and retired from showing/breeding. Lyla had two beautiful litters of 8 and 5 including AKC Champions Rigby and Epee!

Whiskey was born on April 1, 2020 to our beloved CKC CH Ginkgo De Cleo Grantham Gaia RI BCAT THDA CGC TKN and Breugel’s Ludwig Little Rascal (Louie). He was one of 8 pups.
Whiskey lives in Indianapolis and owned by Heather Tracey who finished his AKC championship all owner-handled. Heather had shown in 4H as a child and we are so proud of the team!
Whiskey finished his AKC championship on Thursday February 3, 2022 with a Best of Winners/Winners dog! He also earned a Best of Opposite and two selects at the 2022 Indy Winter Classic.
He is neutered and living his best life with Barbet Ralph and his humans on the west side of Indy.
Whiskey LOVES fast cat and is one of the fastest Barbet with average run speeds of 25 MPH.
