We send a questionnaire and start a conversation. It is recommended to reach out and research as many breeders as you would like; however, being on multiple contact lists is not advised.
We have litters 1-2x a year and look for families who will be active with their Barbet. Most of our Ginkgo Barbet will not be show dogs, but we appreciate families who spend time training, grooming, and engaging with their dog throughout its life.
We place our puppies not based on color nor sex, but on how the puppy's temperament fits with your family dynamics. We will email you a questionnaire to get to know you better. If we are a mutual fit, we reach out when we have a pup available and recommend the best match for your family.
Please note, we will not ship puppies without a human chaperon.
We do our best to reply to everyone but we do not have puppies available all the time.

Northrock Barbet Article: Are Barbet Hypoallergenic?
No dog is truly allergen free nor 100% Hypoallergenic. Please do not believe the hype and false marketing. While Barbet are limited in numbers, they are simply a canine. The breed is growing in popularity in North America; however, Barbet do not need a special veterinarian or trainer. Any can work with you and your Barbet. There are various training methods, and you have to find what works for your dog and you. Same goes with a groomer, if you are not showing the Barbet, there is no standard trim outside of keeping the coat brushed, washed, conditioned, and mat free.

Owning a dog comes with additional costs. With any canine there are the standard veterinarian vaccines, annual health/vet check ups, dental cleanings, food, treats. With a Barbet there are the added costs of a visit to a professional groomer every 4-6 weeks in addition to brushes, combs, shampoo, conditioner needed for at home coat maintenance. Also trainers and/or classes, leashes, dog sitters, dog walkers, dog day care, mental enrichment activities, etc all make up some of the costs of dog ownership. The love of a canine is priceless.
Be prepared to brush (to the skin) a Barbet 2-3x a week in addition to having assistance from a professional groomer every 4-6 weeks for nail trims, coat trimming, and ear hair trimming or plucking. If you plan on fully grooming at home, you will need a grooming table, dog blow dyer, bath tub, deep conditioning shampoo, conditioner, scissors, trimmers, and leave in conditioning sprays. Their coat continually grows and they will mat without proper brushing and care. They shed into their coat, so brushing is important for their health. Their skin and coat need fully dried after a bath and ear canals cleaned and checked to help avoid ear infections.
We appreciate when families send us yearly updates. We understand life is busy, but we love knowing how our pups are doing, any updates on their health are noted to help us make better breeding choices in future.
